INTRODUCTION TO IMPROVISED RESCUE

What do you do if your partner is injured on a route? This 3 hour indoor course is suitable for all regular outdoor climbers and for instructors working towards SPA or MIA qualifications. The course aim is to introduce you to the basic skills required to efficiently solve a minor problem on a crag when climbing with a partner. The course covers

  • Anchor systems
  • Basic improvised rescue equipment
  • Locking off the belay under load
  • Escaping the system
  • Abseiling and lowering
  • Assisted abseils
  • Simple hoisting and prussiking
