EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING

Q1. What should I wear?

We advise you to wear loose, comfortable clothing such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, or jogging bottoms. If you do not have climbing shoes please wear trainers or plimsolls.

Q2. Do you have somewhere to lock up my bike / belongings?

There are bike racks outside the climbing centre. Lockers are available within the centre. You will need to leave a deposit such as keys or a watch for a padlock. Lost padlocks are charged at £5 each.

Q3. I’ve never climbed before, what equipment do I need to buy?

Equipment is normally provided on all our courses. Your instructor will be happy to discuss suitable equipment with you.

Q4. Where can I buy equipment locally?

Members of the centre benefit from a 10% discount at Snow and Rock in Filton, Bristol. Other local suppliers include Taunton Leisure in Bedminster.

Q5. How long does my lead rope need to be?

We recommend a minimum lead rope length of 30m.

Q6. I need some used rope, can you let me have some?

For safety reasons we will not give away or sell used ropes.

Q7. Can we hire climbing equipment to use outside the Centre?

No, unless it’s part of a course being run by one of our instructors.

Q8. What equipment can I hire from you for climbing indoors?

We hire harnesses, chest harnesses, full body harnesses for small children, karabiners and belay devices and climbing shoes. Helmets are available free of charge. We do not hire out lead ropes.
