1st Annual Youth Summer Bouldering Competition results  14/07/08

We had a superb turnout of 31 juniors for our first Annual Youth Summer Bouldering Competition on Saturday 12/07/08. Each category of climbers (age 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15) battled it out over 15 bespoke boulder problems, 5 per category, up to grade Font 7a. All the juniors climbed exceptionally well, and the winners were as follows:
Age 7-9: 1st Dylan Rhodes, 2nd Hannah Slaney, 3rd Ben Henstridge
Age 10-12: 1st Claudia Hesleden, 2nd Kate Seaborne, 3rd Toby Thorpe
Age 13-5: 1st Joe Day, 2nd Dudley Dawes, 3rd Callum McAllan.
Climber of the Day: Gwyneth Uttley
The winners were presented with Snow + Rock vouchers, t-shirts and certificates, and all the climbers received a certificate of attendance. Many congratulations to all of them.

Local success at the British Bouldering Championships  14/07/08

HUGE congratulations to Heidi Schwenk, who placed 4th at the British Bouldering Championships on Saturday in Sheffield. 15-year old Heidi, who is sponsored by Undercover Rock, fought hard to get through to the final climbing grades V2 to V7 (Font 6a to 7a+). She says that the Isolation round was scariest, although it had the advantage that no-one could copy her moves. Congratulations Heidi! ....... read more
