Straight to Lead Climbing Course
- New to Climbing?
- Already Climb?
If you’ve never roped climbed before and want to get straight into lead climbing, this is the course for you. A lead climber ascends the route periodically clipping their rope into attachment points or quickdraws on the wall. Unlike top roping where the climber can only fall a short distance (around 1 meter), a lead climber will fall at least twice the distance to the most recently clipped quick draw. For example, if the distance from the lead climber to the quickdraw is 3 meters, then they will fall at least 6 meters.
This course takes place over 3 sessions of 2 hours each. You will be with an instructor at a ratio of 1:4 and, after learning the basics of wearing a harness and tying in, you’ll be straight into learning the skills of leading safely. You must be able to attend all three sessions to book onto this and complete all three sessions for the instructor to sign you off to climb alone.
Please Note: This course is physically very demanding and is only suited to those who regularly exercise and have good level of fitness.
Bespoke courses can be arranged for a group of 4: email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
